Dutch Seaport Police innovates with iMatch50

Ready for the Entry & Exit System

The Dutch Seaport Police is part of the Dutch National Police that is active in the port of Rotterdam and on the port grounds. The work of the Dutch Seaport Police focuses on nautical supervision, environmental enforcement, combating crime, border control and handling incidents on the water.

Biometric registration for Entry Exit System (EES)

The EES is an automated system that the European Union will use for the automatic monitoring of border crossings by nationals of third countries (non-EU / EEA / Switzerland). It is necessary that these persons are identified and registered.

In preparation for the introduction of the Entry Exit System (EES), the Dutch Seaport Police and BPI started a pilot for mobile registration in 2022. The Dutch Seaport Police tested the iMatch50 mobile capture devices in daily practice on their ships and other challenging circumstances. With these mobile capture devices, people are easily identified and registered based on their fingerprints and identity documents.

Innovation

As part of the project, the Dutch Seaport Police has developed an innovative EES app for the mobile registration of fingerprints and the validation of identity documents with the iMatch50. After a successful pilot, BPI recently proudly delivered the first production series of the latest iMatch50 to the Dutch Seaport Police.
